Thornton Tomasetti Associate Principal Aditya Bhagath was recently presented with the 2024 John R. Sheaffer Award for Excellence in Floodproofing by the Association of State Floodplain Managers for his innovative work in protecting buildings from floods. The award highlights Bhagath’s contributions to flood resilience, including work on projects like NYU Langone Medical Center’s campus-wide flood mitigation after Hurricane Sandy, and the New York Hall of Science after post-tropical cyclone Ida. A member of the firm’s Sustainability and Resilience practice, Bhagath has expertise in climate risk assessments, flood resilience strategies, and performance testing for a range of flood barrier types. His recent projects include Terminal Warehouse and Columbia University Milstein Family Tennis Center, both in Manhattan, and Citadel’s new global headquarters in Miami, Florida.
